ERROR Retreiving text fields with a simple dataset component

Hi i must admit that after reading a few flames from this forum about the driver i was not too eager to try it out. After putting some effort into it
- Converting some large BDE driven app to this dbexpress driver ,
there is a an obvious speed improvement - where ever the BDE would drag itself there is now a noticable vim about the app . But
i cant select text fields and one or two others. the error is always on the simpledataset componnent . I can't seem to see any obvious work around except ignoring the field. So what do u think
the error verbatim is
ct_get_data(): user api layer - bla blah bla
any ideas ?
